Head of Engineering, San Francisco, Hybrid

The Opportunity

We are partnering with a Digital Health company who are looking for a Head of Engineering with experience building and scaling engineering teams at pace.

The Role

As Head of Engineering you will be working with Engineering teams in the UK, US and Europe and will be responsible for scaling up teams in the US. You will also be required to:

• Direct sprints with product Management, distribute, manage, track & report activity throughout the engineering team, onshore & offshore.
• Build, lead and hire a high-calibre team of software engineers to solve problems while being hands on.
• Partner with the CTO and engineering leads to ensure technical decisions support their quality, performance, scalability, reliability, availability and security goals.
• Design, develop, test and scale new and existing consumer product features
• Encourage innovation and foster an environment of continuous improvement and collaboration, both within the engineering team and with all other departments.
• Contribute to overall engineering initiatives as a member of the engineering leadership team.

The Candidate

You should have scaled teams in a high growth environment and have experience in large scale developments for a consumer-facing product or service

• 10+ years of experience as a hands-on-software engineer or architect.
• 5+ years in management
• Demonstrated experience of attracting, hiring and enabling stellar talent
• Have a deep empathy towards engineering happiness
• The ability to motivate a team through delivery on aggressive schedules and goals
• Experience working in a regulated environment with very high security standards is highly desirable
• Experience with a similar tech stack of AWS, Golang, PHP, React, Angular. iOS/Android mobile applications is desirable

Salary: $160,000 – $240,000 plus equity and annual bonus
