Consultant General Adult Psychiatrist Inpatient Ward, Torquay
We are working alongside our partner in Devon to find a consultant of Psychiatry for the urgent care inpatient ward in in the LDU Torquay, as part of a recruitment drive to find several consultants across the service both in the community and in a new inpatient ward planned for 2022.
£84,559 – £114,003 dependant on experience and qualification. The trust has suggested that is open to specialist areas of interest that could help to supplement this.

The vast majority of our services are provided in the community, but they also have a range of inpatient (hospital) services for people who need a spell of more intensive care and support.
The trust has been given a CQC rating of Good but is working towards an Outstanding rating.
The post holder will be based at the Mental Health Centre where private office space with PC accessibility and IT support is available and appropriate secretarial support will be provided. The post holder will offer assessment, diagnosis and treatment of informal and detained patients admitted to the inpatient service, discharge RC responsibilities for those detained patients, provide senior clinical leadership to the inpatient team and be prepared to work across inpatient and Home Treatment Services to work towards maximising availability of inpatient beds.
The sister ward is co-located and both wards sit within the South Devon and Torbay Mental Health Centre within the local General Hospital site which incorporates an older adult inpatient ward, outpatient services, Health Based Place of Safety, Home Treatment Team base.
The post holder will be part of a trust wide Section 12 Approved Doctor rota during which the post holder will not be responsible for routine clinical duties within his catchment area but will make him/herself available to undertake Mental Health Act assessment work within the South of the County.
The job plan is currently made up of 10Pas over 5 days. 7,5 for DDC and 2.5 for SPA as per Royal College guidelines. Timetables are only indicative; the formal plan is to be agreed between the Medical Director and the applicant. For a copy of the timetable get in touch and we will be happy to provide it. The MD team is currently made up of 2 junior doctors, 1 ward manager, 3 band 6 nurses, p.5 FTE band 5 nurses, 6 band 4 nurses,12 band 3 nurses, Physiotherapists, 1 dietician,1 pharmacist and a number of social workers and volunteers.
